The Rock Pool and You: A Guide to Aquatic Petpets
So, you want to adopt an Aquatic Petpet? Well, you're in luck! We've ever so carefully curated the perfect guide to the top 30 Aquatic friends who are available for adoption today from the Rock Pool. Not sure where to start? No worries – we've divided our recommendations into handy categories such as "Pointy Bois" and "Friends with Fun Shapes," and we’ve provided a solid fluid review for each. From Baby Blus to Waleins and everything in between, this is The Rock Pool and You. Author's note: This is the official guide! Any other guide is just rubbish. Slippery Lil Fellas Now, these lil fellas might look super cute, but they are so, so easy to lose. These are probably best for Neopets with opposable thumbs, to be able to firmly grasp them as they try to wriggle away. If your Neopet tends to be a bit forgetful or isn't the fastest Pet around, these lil guys might not be the wisest choice. They're slippery, they're fast, and you do NOT want to be swimming around the neighborhood trying to catch them. Plus, aside from our lil Baby Blu, none of them have ears to listen to your pleas for them to return home. Also, the Frillabon and the Primella probably shouldn't be touched with bare hands unless your Neopet’s skin is resistant to electricity… Need other options? Check out the Tanizard and Ghoti. Fun fact! Ghoti is actually pronounced "fish." In Your Feels Is your Neopet a little more on the emotional side? Perhaps they have some very big feelings and difficulty expressing them? An "In Your Feels" Petpet might be right for them! These Petpets can be used to express your Neopet’s emotions without saying a word. Feeling Smiley? Maybe Frowny? Perhaps a little grumpy? |
Month of Hiding: 13 Not So Hidden Things to See & Do
Hi, Neopians! The Month of Hiding is here and there is a lot to look forward to! Neopian holidays aside, Here are a few items and activities to explore during the month ahead. Since we don’t hide good ideas around here I have compiled them below:
1. First things first, I highly suggest reading (wink, wink) Hiding Valuables. It’s a quick read and you may even discover a helpful hiding place… or two… or three! Every responsible Neopian needs to know where to hide their most valuable assets and after your trusty Safety Deposit Box this may help you discover the next best place!
2. Next up on the agenda! The Month of Hiding is a perfect time to read Wocky Hide and Seek. Not only is it an adorable book it is also a fun and highly informative tale! The younger Neopians in Neopia will most certainly enjoy moving the Wocky’s paws back and forth to play a demonstrative game of “Peek-A-Boo!” There are few better ways to learn all about hiding than with this book!
3. If you’re afraid of clowns this next one is especially for you! For your Neohome, you yes YOU! Can own a Hiding from Clowns Blanket. It’s perfect for hiding from clowns, your responsibilities as a Neohome owner and might even help you hide from The Grey Painter when The Void Within returns this month!
4. What better time to add the Hide-and-Seek (TCG) to your Haunted Woods set than the Month of Hiding? Their thirty-room mansion may have made their games last a long time, but you can quickly make this trading card part of your collection today by searching it on the Shop Wizard.
5. Not hidden too far out of sight in the NC Mall you can find the Secret Garden Entrance Background. |
 | The Rarest Pets in Neopia
One of the most enjoyable parts of playing Neopets is the Pets themselves. With 56+ adoptable Pet species and endless colours & customization to choose from, there're many ways to create a Pet that stands out from the rest! But what IS the rarest pet in Neopia? How can we pinpoint the perfect criteria that makes a rare Neopet…well ... .rare?
While there isn’t one specific Pet variation that has been verified as THE rarest Pet in all of Neopia, there ARE different criteria that certainly makes up a rare Pet. In this article, I breakdown the top 4 criteria to owning a rare Neopet: Name, Species, colour, and Wearables. It should be noted that not every colour or wearable is available for all Pet species—but creating the perfect combo with what’s possible is sure to make the coolest and rarest Pet Neopia has ever seen! Let’s dive in!
NAMES
It’s no secret that names are an important part of your Pet creation, but did you know that there ARE names that are rarer than others? There are so many Pets that exist in Neopia that finding a name that hasn’t already been taken can be an exciting challenge of its own. Pet names with 4-5 letters are typically harder to come by these days, making them the rarest. Following short names are “real word” names—which are self explanatory, but words or names that are pronounceable and do not include numbers or symbols. The third rarest type of Pet name are “matching names.” Matching names are names that are single or multi-worded, but whatever it is describes the “look” of the Pet. For instance, I have a Baby Lupe named BabyMeech. Having “baby” in the name of a Baby Neopet makes the name more intentional. It signals that the owner has put some thought into what this Neopet would be, and named it accordingly. |

"The Magician" by jellyworldadventurer If you want magic, you take a trip to Faerieland. That's what the citizens of Roo Island believed their whole lives, anyway. Sure, in their Kingdom slept the terrifying Count Von Roo, and King Roo had his magic dice to play Dice-a-Roo with, but other than that, the residents were perfectly content with their merry-go-round, their delicious coffee, and their terrific souvenirs that were well-known across the planet. There was no magic here, nosiree, not unless you were one of those Neomillionaires who could buy potions and paint brushes. That was, of course, until Marlowe the Magnificent came around. Nobody knew where he had come from. Had he grown up in Roo Island and changed his name and colour? Had he snuck onto a boat and sneaked into the island so that nobody could check his passport? Nobody could say for sure, but every local knew his name. He made sure of it. It started on a sunny April morning. The residents of Roo Island woke up and checked their mailboxes like they did every morning. Some of those had birthday cards, others had Neomail from long-distance relatives, but every mailbox had one thing in common — an invitation for a magic show by Marlowe the Magnificent, with a picture of a Blue Roo magician in a mask, and a date printed below it, only a week away. It wasn’t long before chatter about the invite began, and in less...

"Fae's Adventures in the Haunted Woods" by rkbear Fae the most spoiled Korbat in all of the Haunted Woods, the only daughter of Ash and Bellsamy, and possibly the cutest toddler in all of Neopia, at least that is what her parents always told her. Faeline was born on the 30th day of the month of Storing on a crisp autumn morning. Ash and Bell had never been more enchanted by any creature as they were by their daughter. She was named after Ash’s mother. Their large extended family all came to meet her over the month of Celebrating to celebrate her arrival and the holidays together. Though she was too little to understand, or so they thought, they all took turns helping the new parents with their bundle of joy. Fae heard all their stories of their various and exciting adventures all over the world of Neopia. The little Korbat had inherited her father’s love of adventure and her mother’s curiosity, so even though she was only a few days old, she couldn’t wait to go on her own first adventure. ***** “And where do you think you are going?” Fae ran faster as she heard her mother’s voice, but her short legs were no match for the much longer ones of her mother. She was scooped up off the ground and into the Pastel Xweetok’s loving embrace. “You are quite the handful.” Fae protested, requesting, eloquently to be put down. Unfortunately the toddler hadn’t quite mastered...

"The Lunar Temple Newcomer" by josephinefarine The new initiate followed him closely. There was something strange about the way she moved: sometimes like his own shadow, lithe and elegant as a dancer. But he’d caught her stumbling more than once, and she approached stairs with peculiar care, as though she’d spent her whole life on level ground.
She’d arrived early that morning—“before the sun,” Elder Jokuh had explained, in that bemused tone he typically reserved for mathematical equations and anomalies.
“Sìo,” the Lunar Temple’s Head Astronomer had warned, a glint of amusement in his small eyes, “you wouldn’t be volunteering to show this newcomer around to get out of polishing the entrance floors, would you?”
Sìo had looked at the elder’s all-knowing half-smile—the kind all the senior astronomers wore like a mask over their wizened features—and wisely kept his mouth shut.
Oh, fine. He was eager to show this newcomer around, and it did release him from temple chores for the day. Perhaps he’d shown his enthusiasm a little too transparently, he considered, brushing a hand along the polished cherry oak of the railing. But in his defense, he was also curious about this person. Before they’d set off, Jokuh had pulled him aside and explained, in a hushed tone, that the newcomer was mute. And true enough, the Ixi hadn’t uttered a sound or a word all morning. |
